Fitting
instructions for Decorative mouldings UNDER
PLASTER FITTING
Measure the height required and temporarily secure the moulding with
concrete nails. Once all the mouldings have been aligned and mitred all the mouldings
can be fully secured with nails every 200mm on the top and bottom lip of the
moulding. All joints and mitres must be butt jointed with ceramic tile adhesive
and smoothed off according to the profile then covered with a fibre tape and a
thin layer of cement or ceramic tile adhesive or even exterior polly filler,
lightly sand down the areas and paint with a universal undercoat and then an
exterior PVA or enamel paint. FITTING ON EXISTING PLASTERFirst the fitting lips on the top and bottom side has to be removed with
a angle grinder. Measure the height required and nail a timber cleat on the wall, one
cleat for the top and one cleat for the bottom of the moulding. Clip the moulding onto the two cleats and secure with nails or screws
from the top and bottom into the wood cleats. All joints and mitres must be butt jointed with ceramic tile adhesive and smoothed off according to the profile then covered with a fibre tape and a thin layer of cement or ceramic tile adhesive or even exterior polly filler, lightly sand down the areas and paint with a universal undercoat and then an exterior PVA or enamel paint. Do not forget to grout the junction between the wall and the moulding on the top surface where rainwater can penetrate with ceramic tile adhesive or a paintable sealer. Refer to accompanying sketch.
